National Interfaith Week 10th – 17th November 2019
Inter Faith Week is a great opportunity for pupils to explore inter faith issues and for schools to build relationships with faith groups in their community. See their website for resources and ideas.
The Faith Direct event falls during National Interfaith Week, on 14th November in the Civic Suite by the Town Hall. While this event is put on for secondary school RE students, we are able to have a group for primary RE co-ordinators. This is a chance for teachers to talk to and ask questions of leaders/speakers from all the major faith groups and denominations, including Baha’i and also Humanism. Some presenters also bring artefacts to illustrate their answers. It’s run like a “speed dating” session with groups rotating around the speakers. Numbers will be limited and there is no cost to the school other than the teacher’s release time. It runs 10.00 am to 2.00pm (please arrive by 9.45am) and lunch is included. Please send the teacher’s name and email address to the organiser, Elizabeth Kingdom, if interested Elizabeth.email@example.com
Interfaith project to mark the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of the Bab by the Baha’is of Wandsworth
This project will now be open for the year. Details from Shanta Chellapoo at the address below. There is also a Baha’i study pack for KS2 available on request, and they are happy to do an assembly/workshops in schools. Please get in touch with them if you would like the pack or a visit. firstname.lastname@example.org
Humanists UK provide free education resources, for teachers on their Understanding Humanism website, Understanding Humanism . They also have free trained school speakers who can visit schools to answer students’ questions about humanism, and teacher training to help raise teachers' confidence to teach about humanism in the classroom.
The Shap Working Party produces an annual calendar of religious festivals, with descriptions and photographs as well as dates. It is available as both as an e calendar and an A2 wallchart. The calendar from 19-20 is now ready. See www.shapcalendar.org.uk for details.
